Over the last couple of days we have started seeing an increasing number of computers failing to boot after applying updates.

Initial analysis points to Windows 7 Service Pack 1 conflicting with some Anti-Virus software. Once the Fatal Error occurs you may not be able to use system restore or even recovery disks to get back in to your PC.

Do not try to use manufacturers restore disks to fix this as you may end up restoring to factory settings and lose your data. We have a tested fix and instructions available. Please contact our helpdesk for assistance.

Pond Group have successfully completed a full virtualisation of an entire company – literally.

The client, a specialist small business tax and business advisors, have been using a Microsoft Small Business Server in their own office for many years. They made the decision to set up a virtual address to direct their mail and commissioned Pond to provide a solution for their I.T and telecoms requirements. By virtualising their servers and all workstations, providing hosting in our own datacentre and setting up all users with VoIP telephone extensions, the entire company now works from their homes. All “internal” calls are free of charge, despite each employee being miles from each other. All legacy systems are available and as fast as when they were in the office – Sage, Quickbooks, CCH, Word, Excel – even scanning and printing.

We see virtulaisation, along with other new technologies such as cloud computing to be the future of all companies I.T. strategy, regardless of size. Please call and we’d be happy to discuss the pros and cons for your business.
