Meet The Team – Steve Giachardi, Business Development

What’s your name and job title?
Hey, I’m Steve and I’m the Sales Guy.

How long have you worked at POND?

I have been with Pond for around ten years I think.

What’s your background? i.e. qualifications, past experience etc.

I used to do IT Contracting which was how I ended up meeting Greg and the team here at Pond. I came on a three-month contract and I’m still here. Before that I worked in web design, IT Management and Office Installations.

What does your day-to-day job involve?

Picking up the phone and talking to both suppliers, customers and potential customers.

What’s your favourite part of working at POND?

Apart from the relaxed attitude and knowing that I am part of a company that delivers some amazing results, especially with damaged and broken hardware: Sometimes Greg and the team work miracles in retrieving data. No, my favourite part of the job is constantly looking at new products and seeing where the IT world is headed next. It’s exciting seeing if those innovations can be used for the benefit of our clients. This is an amazing time we are in. It’s like a third industrial revolution. IT is about to change, quite spectacularly, in the next couple of years. The Cloud is just the start.

What’s the hardest part of your job?

Finding new business.

What are your interests outside of work?

Music. I write a column for the US website theSmoothJazzRide.com. I like working out, I try to train a little every day, you know, to at least feel like I am attempting to get back into those size 36 trousers I am hanging on to. And my other loves are computer gaming and reading. Both can be totally immersive and time thieves if you let them.

If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Inquisitive, passionate, dreamer.

What could you not live without?

We’re off to the pub – what’s your order?

Appletons and Coconut Water.
